Hi, I'm Sarah - welcome to Gray Gables Home!

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My husband & I live with our Weimaraners (the "gray" in Gray Gables) at our "new old" house in North Carolina. I, along with my two sisters, grew up in a little pink cottage located in the foothills of North Carolina and it was there where I first realized my love for home design.

As long as I can remember, I've been an admirer of beautiful things, whether it was in nature, art or design. From a very early age, I was fascinated with historic architecture and interior design. I've long considered myself to be an old soul and am an introvert by nature, so while most girls were playing with dolls, socializing or participating in sports, I was sketching my design ideas, painting rooms (for the millionth time), crafting, visiting fabric & design stores, rearranging furniture or flipping thru the latest edition of Martha Stewart Living or House Beautiful. If my grandfather were still alive, he could attest that I solicited him - more times than he probably wished I had - to help me with my next big idea; he was constantly making furniture, hanging wallpaper or changing out light fixtures to help bring my idea to life. 

Creativity & design has always been a big part of my life and has served as my way of expressing my true self. Ultimately, I think that's what home should be - a reflection of ourselves - designed & styled in a way that helps tell our story, brings us joy and inspires us to live our best life. It is in our homes where our lives happen and some of our most important memories are formed. 

Gray Gables Home is a culmination of an appreciation for simple living, a love for art & design, my lifelong dream of having my own shoppe and the desire to help others in their modern homemaking journey. My hope is that you will be inspired to create a home that not only reflects you but makes you smile; it truly is the little things that can bring so much joy.
